Bogart's

Embracing the notion and possibilities of hazard Sara’s bass goes walkabout during the opening number. Nor is she the only instrumentalist rushing in that direction as Robert’s rapid-fire fingering on the guitar certainly hits the mark - just not the mark that was originally intended. The blending of Johnny Toobad’s four-to-the-floor hi-hat and insistent bass drum, Fripp’s manually repeated arpeggios sounding like tape loops, all underpinned by Lee’s ascending bass and the heat-haze organ, always makes Ooh Mr.Fripp a dazzling proposition and tonight it is especially hot. Clearly, the crowd loved it. As Chris Williams reviewing the gig at Bogart’s points out: “No one knew the title of the songs, it was the first hearing for all of them. It was a caesura in what will continue to be the career of the man who may just be the soothsayer of time to come.”
